But do you know these 40 words for what\u2019s inside your body?<\/p>\n<p>This will be a visual vocabulary lesson &#8211; I\u2019ll show you pictures to help teach you the words.\u00a0Learning vocabulary with pictures actually helps you remember it better. 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s begin with the <strong>circulatory system.\u00a0<\/strong>Your\u00a0<strong>heart\u00a0<\/strong>pumps blood to your entire body through\u00a0<strong>arteries\u00a0<\/strong>(which carry blood away from the heart),\u00a0<strong>veins\u00a0<\/strong>(which carry blood back to the heart), veins<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The blood is oxygenated in your\u00a0<strong>lungs.\u00a0<\/strong>When you breathe, the air goes through your\u00a0<strong>trachea\u00a0<\/strong>(which is more commonly called your\u00a0<strong>windpipe).<\/strong> The verb for breathing in is to <strong>inhale<\/strong>, and the verb for breathing out is to <strong>exhale<\/strong>.<strong><br (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Your\u00a0<strong>skeleton\u00a0<\/strong>is made of 214\u00a0<strong>bones.\u00a0<\/strong>The places where two bones come together are called\u00a0<strong>joints\u00a0<\/strong>(for example: your knees, elbows, wrists, ankles, shoulders, etc.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Here are some of the most common parts of the skeleton: <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your <strong>skull<\/strong> is the bones of your head and face, your <strong>clavicle<\/strong> or <strong>collarbone<\/strong> runs from your neck to your shoulder, your <strong>ribs<\/strong> protect your heart and lungs, your <strong>spine<\/strong> is the long column of bones going down your back, and your <strong>pelvis<\/strong> connects your spine to your legs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-22993 size-large\" through the\u00a0<strong>nervous system,\u00a0<\/strong>which is made up of connections called\u00a0<strong>nerves.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" the\u00a0<strong>digestive system.\u00a0<\/strong>When you eat, food goes into your mouth, passes through your\u00a0<strong>throat\u00a0<\/strong>and goes down your\u00a0<strong>esophagus.\u00a0<\/strong>The food is digested in your\u00a0<b>stomach,\u00a0<\/b>then passes through your\u00a0<strong>small intestine\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>large intestine\u00a0<\/strong>before being eliminated from the body.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A few more important internal organs include the <strong>pancreas,<\/strong> which produces hormones and enzymes; the <strong>liver,<\/strong> which filters your blood and removes poisonous substances, and the <strong>gallbladder,<\/strong> which stores a substance called <strong>bile<\/strong> that helps us digest fat in our diet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7403\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Your\u00a0<strong>kidneys <\/strong>remove wastes and extra fluids from your blood, which they send to the <strong>bladder\u00a0<\/strong>to be eliminated in <strong>urine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Finally, we have the reproductive system. Men have two <strong>testicles<\/strong> which produce <strong>sperm,<\/strong> the cells that carry the male\u2019s genetic material. Women have two <strong>ovaries,<\/strong> which produce <strong>eggs<\/strong> carrying the woman\u2019s genes.
