These are also considered regular:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Present tense: love\/loves\n<ul>\n<li>I <b>love\u00a0<\/b>pizza<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Past tense: loved\n<ul>\n<li>I\u00a0<strong>loved\u00a0<\/strong>to go camping when I was a kid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Past participle: loved\n<ul>\n<li>I&#8217;ve always\u00a0<strong>loved\u00a0<\/strong>classical music.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other regular verbs ending in -E: use, vote, chase, bake, hope, smile, care, exercise, like, rescue, tie, waste, and <a href=\"https:\/\/wordmom.com\/regular-verbs\/end-e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">many more<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For verbs that end in consonant-Y, we change the Y to I and then add -ED:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Present tense:\u00a0try \/ tries\n<ul>\n<li>I <strong>try<\/strong> to exercise almost every day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Past tense:\u00a0tried\n<ul>\n<li>I\u00a0<strong>tried\u00a0<\/strong>to fix the TV, but it didn&#8217;t work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Past participle:\u00a0tried\n<ul>\n<li>I haven&#8217;t\u00a0<strong>tried\u00a0<\/strong>that new restaurant yet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other regular verbs ending in consonant-Y: cry, spy, hurry, copy, reply, carry, marry, dry, study, identify<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Note: For verbs ending in vowel-Y, we just add -ED: played, stayed, enjoyed<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For verbs that end in a consonant + vowel + consonant, we double the final consonant before adding -ED:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Present tense: stop \/ stops\n<ul>\n<li>I should <strong>stop<\/strong> staying up so late.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Past tense: stopped\n<ul>\n<li>We\u00a0<strong>stopped\u00a0<\/strong>to get gas before our road trip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Past participle: stopped\n<ul>\n<li>I&#8217;ve recently\u00a0<strong>stopped\u00a0<\/strong>smoking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other regular verbs ending in consonant-vowel-consonant: grab, rub, sob, skid, beg, drag, hug, occur, prefer, stir, admit, commit, regret, submit, control<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-20737\" src=\"https:\/\/www.espressoenglish.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/american-flag-speech-bubble-2.png\" alt=\"Learn English: Improve your pronunciation\" width=\"254\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.espressoenglish.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/american-flag-speech-bubble-2.png 401w, https:\/\/www.espressoenglish.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/american-flag-speech-bubble-2-300x240.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 254px) 100vw, 254px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>How to pronounce regular verbs<\/h3>\n<p>Many English learners make pronunciation mistakes with the -ED ending.
