As you can see, they have very similar lives&#8230; but the vocabulary words they use are very different!<\/p>\n<p>New York Nate lives in an <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>apartment<\/strong>,<\/span> and London Laura lives in a<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong> flat.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Every morning, when getting dressed, New York Nate puts on a pair of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>pants<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; whereas London Laura puts on a pair of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>trousers.<\/strong><\/span> Both New York Nate and London Laura have babies, but New York Nate needs to change the baby&#8217;s <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">diaper<\/span>,<\/strong> and London Laura needs to change the baby&#8217;s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>nappy.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When it&#8217;s time to go to work, New York Nate takes the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>subway<\/strong><\/span> and London Laura takes the<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong> underground<\/strong><\/span> (which is also called the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>tube<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After getting off at the right stop, New York Nate walks along the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>sidewalk<\/strong><\/span> and London Laura walks along the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>pavement<\/strong><\/span> to reach their offices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">New York Nate works on the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>first floor<\/strong><\/span> of the building, and London Laura works on the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>ground floor.<\/strong><\/span> This means neither of them needs to take the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>elevator<\/strong><\/span> (for New York Nate) or the<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong> lift<\/strong><\/span> (for London Laura).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">At work, both Nate and Laura need to send some important documents to a client &#8211; but New York Nate sends them by <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>mail<\/strong><\/span> and London Laura sends them by <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>post.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>During the day, New York Nate snacks on <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">cookies, french fries, and potato chips<\/span>.<\/strong> London Laura eats the same things, but she calls them <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>biscuits, chips, and crisps.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This isn&#8217;t a very healthy diet, is it? Both Nate and Laura get stomachaches, so on the way home from work New York Nate stops at the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>drugstore<\/strong> <\/span>or <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>pharmacy<\/strong><\/span> and London Laura stops at the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>chemist&#8217;s shop<\/strong><\/span> to pick up some medicine.<\/p>\n<p>After work, Nate and Laura go shopping. They drive to the mall, and New York Nate puts his car in the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>parking lot<\/strong><\/span>, whereas London Laura puts hers in the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>car park.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Both of them buy a lot of stuff, so New York Nate puts his purchases in the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>trunk<\/strong>,<\/span> and London Laura puts hers in the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>boot.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On the way home, New York Nate stops to fill up the car with <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>gas<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; and London Laura fills up her car with <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>petrol<\/strong><\/span>. At the station, New York Nate sees a <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>truck<\/strong>,<\/span> and London Laura sees a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>lorry.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">They both get home late, and New York Nate needs to take out the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>garbage<\/strong><\/span> or<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <strong>trash<\/strong>;<\/span> London Laura also needs to take out the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>rubbish<\/strong><\/span>.
