(= maybe I will later)<\/li>\n<li><strong>I haven\u2019t<\/strong> finished my homework. (= it\u2019s still in progress)<\/li>\n<li><strong>I haven\u2019t<\/strong> seen that movie. (= but I might watch it sometime)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We can also use &#8220;I haven&#8217;t&#8221; to talk about something that has happened in the past, but has not happened <em>recently:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>I haven&#8217;t\u00a0<\/strong>ready any good books lately. (= I have in the past, but not recently)<\/li>\n<li><strong>I haven&#8217;t\u00a0<\/strong>heard from him this week. (= I have heard from him in the past, but not this week)<\/li>\n<li><strong>I haven&#8217;t\u00a0<\/strong>traveled recently. (= I have in the past, but not in the recent past)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>I Have Never \u2026<\/h3>\n<p>This means that something has not happened even once in your entire life (up to now).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I have never eaten sushi. (= not even once in my life)<\/li>\n<li>He has never been to New York. (= zero times)<\/li>\n<li>We have never played golf. (= never in the past, not once)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Use &#8220;I have never&#8221; to emphasize zero experience.<\/p>\n<h3>Quick Contrast: I haven&#8217;t vs. I have never<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>I haven\u2019t<\/strong> tried this cake yet. (= I haven\u2019t eaten it so far, but maybe I will later.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>I have never<\/strong> tried this cake. (= I have never eaten this type of cake in my life.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>I haven\u2019t<\/strong> traveled this year. (= not this year so far, but yes in the past)<\/li>\n<li><strong>I have never<\/strong> traveled abroad.
