If I&#8217;m playing a game with my kids where they run away and I try to catch them, when I do catch them, I could say &#8220;gotcha!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re playing a joke on someone and you tell them, &#8220;Did you know the word <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefreedictionary.com\/gullible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gullible<\/a> isn&#8217;t in the dictionary?&#8221; and the other person actually gets a dictionary to check, you could say &#8220;gotcha!&#8221; because you successfully tricked them.
