Other times, they might make an <strong>off-the-cuff comment, <\/strong>meaning one that is informal, spontaneous, not planned or prepared.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s turn our attention to conversation. However, if it\u2019s an <strong>endless conversation <\/strong>\u2013 one that seems to continue on forever \u2013 we might eventually get tired of it. This will probably be <strong>polite conversation <\/strong>\u2013 friendly and civilized.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes it\u2019s hard to keep a conversation going with someone we don\u2019t know, and there might be <strong>a lull in the conversation<\/strong>, meaning a natural pause. Some people are very uncomfortable in social situations, and these folks might have <strong>halting\/stilted conversations, <\/strong>meaning ones that have a lot of unnatural pauses and awkward moments.<\/p>\n<p>How about the word \u201cspeech\u201d? If someone\u2019s <strong>speech is slurred, <\/strong>it means they\u2019re not pronouncing things clearly and it\u2019s hard to understand.
