in the present continuous?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When\u00a0<strong>have\u00a0<\/strong>is used as a verb for\u00a0<strong>possession,\u00a0<\/strong>it CAN&#8217;T\u00a0be used in the present continuous:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">I&#8217;m <strong>having<\/strong> a lot of work to do.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">I\u00a0<strong>have\u00a0<\/strong>a lot of work to do.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">They&#8217;re <strong>having<\/strong> a new car.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">They <strong>have<\/strong> a new car.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, in certain expressions,\u00a0<strong>have\u00a0<\/strong><em>can\u00a0<\/em>be used in the present continuous form:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I&#8217;m\u00a0<strong>having\u00a0<\/strong>a good time.<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;re\u00a0<strong>having\u00a0<\/strong>a meeting at 4 PM.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Have vs. have got<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Have\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>have got\u00a0<\/strong>are the same when talking about possessions, illnesses, relationships, and characteristics of people.\u00a0<strong>Have got\u00a0<\/strong>is just a more informal way to say it:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I <strong>have<\/strong> a lot of work to do.<br \/>\n= I<strong>&#8216;ve got<\/strong> a lot of work to do.\u00a0<em>(have got)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>She <strong>has<\/strong> two sisters.<br \/>\n= She<strong>&#8216;s got<\/strong> two sisters.\u00a0<em>(has got)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>He <strong>has<\/strong> a sore throat.<br \/>\n= He<strong>&#8216;s got<\/strong> a sore throat.\u00a0<em>(has got)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>They both <strong>have<\/strong> black hair.<br \/>\n= They<strong>&#8216;ve<\/strong> both <strong>got<\/strong> black hair.\u00a0<em>(have got)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, you can&#8217;t use\u00a0<strong>have got\u00a0<\/strong>in other situations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">You&#8217;ll <strong>have<\/strong> fun at the party.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">You&#8217;ll <strong>have got<\/strong> fun at the party.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">I always\u00a0<strong>have\u00a0<\/strong>breakfast at 8.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">I<strong>&#8216;ve<\/strong> always <strong>got<\/strong> breakfast at 8.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>15 Expressions with &#8220;Have&#8221;<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>So here are\u00a015\u00a0English expressions with the word &#8220;have,&#8221; and whether or not you can use &#8220;having&#8221; or &#8220;have got.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>1. have a look at something<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Having &#8211;
